Every blank will have a brief description pointing out some of the key features of the blank, the time it has been air dried, and in particular describing the heading up and the grain flow of the blank.

If a blank is described as “suitable for English side locks” then it is also suitable for a through bolt (standard action attachment in most modern over and under shotguns).

Where I state the blank is “suitable for a through bolt” then it may not be ideal for a gun with side locks and no through bolt
